Hi, I’m Kaela. I created OCEAN Nomads Tribe to give surfers the information and inspiration they need to chase the best waves, work remotely, and pursue a life of simple pleasures (and maybe, to some extent, to build this life for myself!).

After growing up near the mountains, I first tried surfing when I moved to Australia in my mid-20s. I was hooked from the first moment! Falling in love with surfing has fuelled my passion for travel and exploring different ways of life.

The idea of being able to work from anywhere in the world excites me. Freedom is a priority. I chase waves and I believe in chasing dreams.

While I love the nomadic lifestyle, I also value stability, routine, and my corporate job (at least for now!). My journey is about finding a balance between freedom and a sense of normalcy.

Whatever your story is, I’m sure we can connect in some way. I’m so excited to have you along for the journey!

Nathan Carter

After nearly two decades as a professional longboarder and cold water surfer, working with international surf brands, I now embrace the digital nomad surfer lifestyle. Splitting my time between van life summers in the UK and overseas winters working remotely in South Africa, Australia, or Asia, I’ve found the perfect balance of creativity, freedom, and adventure.

Alfie Amadeus

I’m a writer, surfer, and musician who spends much of my time exploring Asia’s coastlines—whether surfing, snorkeling, or just relaxing. I discovered my knack for storytelling after becoming a freelance copywriter in 2019, and I specialize in writing about travel, music, and culture. When I’m not in the water chasing waves or at my laptop writing, I’m making music, putting a little creativity into every aspect of my life.

Kayli Wouters

Surfing is my ultimate obsession—a love affair with the ocean that’s as inconvenient as it is endless. To fund this salty addiction, I work as a digital nomad, crafting words wherever there’s Wi-Fi (and hopefully waves). Born and raised by the water in Indonesia, I bring a mix of local knowledge and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management to the table. My passions? Surfing, scuba diving, marine conservation, and sustainable travel.

Kaela Earl

Finance guru by trade, surfer and explorer by heart. In my pursuit of an endless summer, I’ve based myself in Australia and lived and worked remotely in Indonesia and the Philippines. From spending my childhood summers in the pool, to now living by the coast, I’ve always been drawn to the water. I love seeking out new surf spots and resetting my mindset through immersion into different cultures.

Kerry de Lange

As a bodyboarder, wife to a surfer, and mother to a soon-to-be little grom, I have explored and surfed many corners of South Africa where I was born and raised, from well-known spots to little hidden gems. I have a deep passion for sustainability and living lightly on the planet. When I’m not on the beach I am usually immersed in creating, writing, reading, gardening, camping, fishing, and just enjoying nature.
